DR. MED. SAMER ISMAIL

DR. MED. SAMER ISMAIL

Before Dr. Ismail took up the position of senior consultant and deputy head of the neurosurgical clinic at the Carl-Thiem-Klinikum in Cottbus in 2004, he specialized in minimally invasive surgical techniques on the spine at various spinal clinics in Germany.

In 2008, the experienced surgeon joined Dr. Schneiderhan's medical team in Munich; since July 1, 2012, the spine specialist has been the founder of the Munich East Spine Center (WZMO) within the OZMO.

Dr. Ismail has been awarded the certificate of "spinal neurosurgery" by the German Society for Neurosurgery. This distinction, currently held by only about 25 specialists in Germany, is awarded after meticulous examination to those neurosurgeons who can demonstrate particular expertise in the field of spinal surgery. Among numerous criteria, it also includes documented competence in particularly complex surgical procedures.

CURRICULUM VITAE

After studying medicine at Martin Luther University in Halle, Dr. Ismail began focusing on spinal treatments and surgeries during his neurosurgical residency (1995-2002) in Cottbus and Bad Wildungen. He then worked as a senior physician and chief senior physician at several renowned spinal clinics in Germany, specializing in minimally invasive spinal surgical techniques. In 2007, he established the interdisciplinary spinal center at the well-known Carl Thiem Clinic in Cottbus.

From 2008 to 2012, he strengthened the neurosurgical team of the Dr. Schneiderhan Spine Center in Munich as a particularly experienced surgeon, where he performed a large number of procedures.

On July 1, 2012, Dr. Ismail, by then an internationally renowned spine specialist, founded the Munich-East Spine Center (WZMO) as a partner within the Munich-East Orthopedic Center (OZMO). Thanks to his extensive experience, he established not only surgical procedures but also the introduction of numerous minimally invasive therapies that could be performed on an outpatient basis. On January 1, 2022, he finally became independent with the founding of the WZMO.

Dr. Ismail has been Chief Physician for Neurology and Psychiatry since March 1, 2022.
